Seven families will receive a $15,000 grant to purchase their first home
OWN IT: Building Black Wealth announced that seven families from the Madison area will receive a $15,000 grant to put toward the purchase of their first home in 2022. This is the inaugural round of grants awarded by OWN IT as part of a new program and down payment fund administered in partnership with One City Schools.

4th Quarter Real Estate Market Update - Madison and Surrounding*
Exploring how sales have changed, we found that 4th quarter sales in 2021 ended with 31% less condos and 21% less single family homes sold than 3rd quarter. A normal seasonal drop around winter, but when comparing to 4th quarter 2020 there was a 10% drop in condo sales and 9.2% drop in single family homes.1st Quarter Real Estate Market Update
Exploring how sales in South Central Wisconsin compared to last quarter and last year, we found that 1st quarter sales in 2021 ended with 2,989 homes being sold. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2020, sales went down 36.5%, but that is a normal trend as buying and selling during the winter months isn’t as popular. However, sales this quarter are up 4% compared to the number of homes sold in the 1st quarter of 2020. The quarter ended with an average sale price of $265,000, which is a 10.7% increase from the 2020 1st quarter.*Source: Wisconsin Realtors Association.
