Philosophy

Van Hise Elementary School is a community of diverse learners within an inclusive atmosphere, to assure maximum educational growth of all students while:

Location

Van Hise Elementary is a quiet K-5 neighborhood school in the University Hill Farms area on the near west side of Madison. The campus is shared with Velma Hamilton Middle School.

Class Size

Average class size is 24. There are 14 classrooms with inclusion of students with Exceptional Educational Needs and English as a Second Language.

Family Partnerships

We have an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) which supports academic programming by planning special events and fundraisers, advocating for children, and soliciting volunteers. The Board and/or PTO meetings are held every month on Tuesday evenings.
