Mission Statement

The mission of Glendale School; a diverse, caring community of children, families, and staff; is to ensure lifelong learning and individual academic success for all students by teaching the skills, habits, and attitudes for them to become successful problem solvers and decision makers. This will be accomplished through:

  • a challenging curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, multicultural, and integrated across disciplines and grades
  • a safe, respectful environment that meets the unique needs of individual students
  • collaboration and shared responsibility by staff, families, and community members

Glendale is one of Wisconsin’s SAGE (Student Achievement Guarantee in Education) schools. The state SAGE grant requires that no K-3 class exceed 17 students. This wonderful program ensures that children in the early elementary grades will receive individual attention and assistance in reading, writing, math and other basic skills. SAGE also requires participating schools to actively involve parents in school activities and programs.

Glendale staff and students work hard to maintain a positive learning environment that engages and inspires students to achieve their greatest potential as life-long learners. Our quiet halls, respect for others, and discipline based on Love and Logic all contribute to a great place for students!

Glendale has a school-wide curriculum support team that coordinates K-5 curriculum and resources in literacy, math, and the English language programming as well as provides professional development and coaching opportunities for instructional staff.

Glendale has a school-wide Title I program that supports our literacy goals. Our Reading Recovery staff collaborates with classroom teachers to meet the needs of all students. Staff members analyze data and hold high expectations for learning.

Glendale is in the southeast corner of Madison between Monona Drive and Highway 51 and four blocks from La Follette High School and Sennett Middle School. The school is adjacent to the Edna Taylor Conservation Park.
